The Belizean Minister of Tourism and Aviation, Manuel Heredia, presented this weekend in Mexico City the new campaign "Belize: So exotic. So close", an ambitious promotion plan to attract Latin American visitors and, above all, Mexicans for the closeness and the cultural and historical similarities. Located in the Yucatan Peninsula, encased between Guatemala and Mexico, Belize with just 400,000 inhabitants annually receives one and a half million tourists from cruise ships and another 490,000 visitors, mostly from the US, Europe and Canada. Tourism represents 38% of its GDP.
