Description
Pickup is from your hotel in Tikal National Park at 6:00am; the driver will confirm your name. The journey begins with roughly 40 minutes’ drive to Ixlu, where you board a shared service bus after crossing Tikal, Flores, and the Guatemala-Belize border area.
You will receive Migratory Forms to enter Belize. The bus continues for approximately 1.5 hours until arrival at the Guatemala-Belize border. At the border, you must disembark to collect your luggage, which is inspected by customs.
Facilities are available at the border, including shops selling drinks and snacks. You must complete immigration and customs procedures personally: first at Guatemala Immigration, then walk about 100 meters to Belize Immigration.
If any traveler experiences issues with immigration, expect a waiting period of up to 20 minutes. Otherwise, the bus resumes the journey towards San Ignacio where passengers are dropped off or picked up. From there, it’s about 1.5 more hours until you reach Belize City’s San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi terminal.
At the terminal, tickets are issued and must be checked at the Atlanta Express Office inside the terminal to receive boarding passes for the ferry. The ferry departs from the same location and the ride takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to San Pedro Ambergris Island. The terminal area includes shops and restaurants.
