Description

The experience begins in San Ignacio with a full safety briefing and equipment fitting. The initial 10 minutes are on paved roads before entering farm tracks and ridge roads through scenic Cayo countryside. Along the route, you will pass Mennonite farms, cattle grazing areas, and hills overlooking the Belize River Valley. Your knowledgeable guide shares stories and insights throughout the ride.

The destination is El Pilar, among the region’s largest ancient Maya cities, located near the Belize-Guatemala border. The site features over 25 known plazas spread across both countries. Unlike more crowded ruins, El Pilar remains partly covered by forest, preserving its natural state. During a guided walking tour, you will climb temple mounds, stand in historic plazas, and watch for native birds and other wildlife that inhabit the area.

After exploring the ruins, you will return to San Ignacio by ATV, completing a tour that offers a blend of cultural discovery and off-road adventure.
