Description

Begin with an early pickup from your accommodation in Hopkins and travel in private, air-conditioned transportation toward western Belize. Your first major stop is Xunantunich, an ancient Maya city near the Guatemala border. Cross to the archaeological site and explore the plazas, temples, and ceremonial structures with a licensed local guide who explains the site’s history and significance. From the higher structures, take in broad views across the Cayo District and toward Guatemala. Continue to the Caves Branch area for the adventure portion of the day. After a safety briefing and a rainforest walk, enter the river with your tube and headlamp. Float through underground chambers while your guide points out limestone formations and explains the cave environment. Then gear up for the zipline experience. Trained staff provide the required equipment, explain the braking and platform procedures, and guide you along a series of cables above the rainforest. The order of cave tubing and ziplining can change with conditions and operational timing. This is a long private day from Hopkins, so allow approximately 11 hours or more for the complete experience and return transportation.
