Image Factory Art Foundation and Gallery
Visitors interested in keeping abreast of the local Belizean arts and literature scene should head to Image Factory Art Foundation near the Water Taxi Terminal and Maritime Museum. Here, alongside an extensive collection of literature, is a constantly changing gallery that features locally produced pieces.
The Image Factory Art Foundation is a not for profit art institution dedicated to the promotion of art and culture in Belize. They have been around since 1995 and host a wide variety of visual arts (painting, photography, sculpture, and installation), history, and anthropology exhibits. They have also published numerous books on Belizean art and culture and host other forms of cultural activities including poetry, dance and music performances.
Today the Image Factory is divided into the Image Factory Shop which features the widest selection of locally produced books and printed materials as well as popular literature from the Caribbean, Latin America and the world. The Shop also specializes in Belizean gift items from t-shirts to small items, and a strong selection of educational toys. Tourists tend to gravitate toward natural scenes of Belize, wooden crafts and books related to the flora and fauna of Belize.
