ATM Cave is located within Tapir Mountain Nature reserve and is a must-visit for those who love adventure or are history buffs. On this guided trek, you will be taken through jungle paths, and river crossings to mysterious depths of the cave where amazing stalactites and stalagmites await you. As you traverse along the cave, there are outstanding artifacts and skeletal remains from ancient Mayan rituals, including the famous calcified human remains called Crystal Maiden. Upon your arrival at our office, you will check in with the front desk. Once the tour guide has provided a full briefing, you will depart on a short 1.5-hour drive to the parking lot of Actun Tunichil Muknal. There is a grocery store stop along the way to purchase snacks or items you may need. At the parking lot, you will be suited with your helmets, headlights, and lifejackets before embarking on a 45-minute flat walk towards the cave entrance. During that walk, you will cross the river three different times. If you are unable to swim, the tour guide is delighted to assist you in any way necessary. Upon arrival at the cave entrance, you will swim into the cave, and begin your exploration of Xibalba. Important Information

  • The Government of Belize has banned all Electronics from the cave. This all-inclusive tour will take place rain or shine. However, If the cave is closed due to high water levels, you may reschedule for another tour or switch your dates. The maximum a tour guide can take is 6 people as mandated by the government without exceptions. If your group is larger than 6, this means two guides will accompany you. You will travel in the same vehicle but have different guides when the tour departs the parking lot towards the cave. The change of clothes is for your comfort and for the protection of the vehicle seats, so they do not get wet. The socks are for preservation purposes. Closed-toe footwear is important since there are sharp rocks in the cave. Please bring shoes that protect your toes, have a good grip and that you do not mind getting wet. We can schedule pick-ups at additional cost depending on location.
