Climate change is caused by actions around the world, and actions to mitigate it and to reduce the damage that it can cause can and should occur throughout the planet. To this end, The Nature Conservancy has developed financial and collection strategies that allow social actors in a country to compensate for their emissions elsewhere in the globe, contributing to improve the quality of life of local populations. That is what has happened, for example, in the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Reserve, which has achieved financial sustainability through the removal of carbon offsets.
